Study Rooms

The Acushnet Public Library provides study rooms for quiet study and tutoring to assist citizens in succeeding in formal education, independent learning and personal pursuits.   

Study room policy

 Purpose 

The Acushnet Public Library provides study rooms for quiet study and tutoring to assist citizens in succeeding in formal education, independent learning and personal pursuits. 


Policy 

1. Study room users are required to have a library card registered in the SAILS network or a photo ID. Study room user must be at least age 12 (or grades 6 and higher) or accompanied by an adult. 


2. Study rooms may be used for two hours. Users may extend their study room time for up to one hour, if no one is waiting for the room. Please check with library staff before the end of your session. 


3. Study rooms can be reserved the day of and will be held for 15 minutes past the scheduled time. Late arrivals may forfeit their use of the room. 


4. The study rooms are not soundproof. Study room users must be considerate of others. Audio devices that disturb others are not allowed. Avoid loud talking and excessive noise. 


5. Covered beverages are allowed in the study rooms. Food is prohibited. 


6. All study room users should be considerate of the next user and throw all trash in the receptacle provided. 


Procedure 

At least one study room user is required to sign in at the Information Desk before using the room. An ID must be left in exchange for a study room key. 


Room A: No more than two users may occupy the room at one time.

 Room B: No more than four users may occupy the room at one time.


 Any failure to comply with the above policy and procedure may result in the loss of study room privileges

Our study rooms can be used for tutoring.

TUTOR POLICY


In its role as an educational center, the Acushnet Public Library welcomes use by tutors.    


1. Tutors may use the study rooms if they or their students have an Acushnet Public Library card or a card registered in the SAILS network.   


2. Tutors must abide by the Study Room Policy (adopted by the Library Board of Trustees, 6/9/15) when using these rooms.

   

3. The Library does not sponsor, recommend or assume liability or responsibility for the work and/or activities of tutors who use the Library.    


4. All arrangements must be made between the tutor, student and/or parents.    


a) No messages may be conveyed through Library staff.   


b) Library telephone may not be used to make or cancel appointments.
